Bead Heads
Bead
heads get you down to the bottom before current can sweep your fly past fish in moving
water and without undue waits in still waters. The combination of a bead head and standard
unweighted pattern improves results as your fly spends more time with the fish and less
time getting there. Classic casters of the quick sink bent might
consider the Hare's Ear, Pheasant Tail and Prince Nymph group. Fish big
"two fisted" rivers in the West and you need Stones.

Bead Head Scuds We also offer scuds with bead
heads. These are most often used in the faster flowing waters. We recommend the non
beaded for lakes and slow moving waters to get the most natural drifts and swimming
motion.
Bead heads are most effective
in faster riffles to insure the fly stays close to the bottom.

B. H. Bird's Nest -- All-round
impressionistic fly to roll on bottom. It can serve as a drowned hopper imitation, match
various minnows and big stoneflies and much else. Works for smallmouth bass as well.
B.H. Hares Ear -- A heavier
version of one of the top three classic nymphs you can fish anytime for most anything just
about anywhere. "It catches panfish in tropical fresh and saltwater too. Even
caught a carp on one in the moot at the Forbidden City!"
B.H. Mayfly Olive - -This could be more accurately
be described as a bead body but it is an effective imitation of the callibaetis in lakes
and represents a number of insects in rivers. A generic nymph as well as a good choice
when Mayflies bottom crawl in their nymphal cases.
B.H. Pheasant Tail -- Bead version of a
classic nymph pattern second only to the Hare's Ear in popularity. Most European
fishing experts say carp in heavily fished waters are smarter than bass or trout.
Try "Italian Dry Flies" AKA breadcrusts for carp when rivers go off color.
Some call carp "freshwater bonefish.".
