STEELHEAD
Misc. Swing Flies
Egg
Sucking Leech --The Egg Sucking Leech is a standard steelhead pattern combining the movement
of a bugger with the attraction of a bright egg. Fish it dead drift or on the swing.
Green Butted Skunk - Another
traditional pattern best suited to off color water.
Tiger Paw - A pattern popular on the Rogue River and
almost unknown beyond this river. It is black with orange flash making it visible in
low light or off colored water. A viable alternative to the Silver Hilton if you need to
fish something your buddy will not have in his box.
Comet, Pink - A follow up to the Chartreuse Comet for silvers and
sockeye salmon.
Comet, Chartreuse - This fly we have tied for tide water salmon
anglers. All of the materials in this fly react to black light / UV wave lengths. There
are salmon anglers on the tide waters of the Rogue, Smith and Klamath rivers who insist on
this color. Steelhead will also bite this fly.
Boss - A California pattern often associated with the Russian River. Our
pattern is tied on the original nymph style hook and weighted to ride hook point up in the
water.
Starlight Leech, Black -
A refinement of the egg sucking leech.
The addition of barbel eyes makes the fly sink rapidly, the crystal chenille body adds
flash and the rabbit strip tail has an undulating swimming motion. It is most popular on
the Umpqua River and in Alaska.
Starlight Leech, Purple - A refinement of the egg sucking leech. The addition of barbel eyes
makes the fly sink rapidly, the crystal chenille body adds flash and the rabbit strip tail
has an undulating swimming motion. It is most popular on the Umpqua River and in Alaska.
