Wonder Minnow Series
The
Wonder Minnow Series offers a unique style of
baitfish imitations. We offer them with and without epoxy coats. Tied using a Mylar
woven-tube body stretched between the upper hook shank and a lower wire form. The
lower wire shapes the body and acts as a keel to keep the fly swimming back up/ belly
down. Other Mylar tube fly bodies run on their sides or belly up. Ours don't!
Their marabou tail provides the movement of a
bait fish tail. The Epoxy Wonder Minnows are offered in three colors:Gold (Golden
Shiner), Green ( original with just a hint of green), and Iridescent (multi
colored with a hint of blue). The epoxy is wider and taller at the front to create a
nose heavy weighting. This mimics the diving/feeding motion of many forage fish
species when fished with a pull/pause retrieve with six inch to foot-long pulls.
ULTRALIGHT
NOTE: the Epoxy Wonder Minnows are heavy enough to fish with light spinning tackle.
We've found that combining an Action Disc
with the Wonder Minnow produces a more life like action. We now include a disc with each
minnow.
For more information see Action Discs.
Wonder Minnow Iridescent Blue (Multi
colored with a hint of blue)These imitate general silver bait minnows like shad and
trout fry, The
epoxy is wider and taller at the front to create a nose heavy weighting. This mimics
the diving/feeding motion of many forage fish species when fished with a pull/pause
retrieve. The Epoxy Wonder Minnows are heavy enough to fish with light spinning
tackle.
Wonder Minnow Iridescent Green (Multi colored
with a hint of Green) These
work in place of some kinds of anchovy and as a general searching
pattern.
Wonder Minnow Iridescent Gold (Multi colored with
a hint of gold) This model works best where the most common baitfish is a golden shade
such as suckers.
Wonder Minnow Translucent
This
version is clear when the light shines through it so it suits very clear water and savvy
fish. It's a good imitation for translucent minnows. The red dressing at the
throat suggests a wounded minnow.
