Why do you only sell flies four or twelve at a time?

Gary Soucie in his excellent book, Traveling with Fly Rod and Reel, says, "Just don't do what I usually do and carry one or two each of empty-zillion patterns.  All too often, one particular pattern works better than anything else in God's creation, and you'd better have at least a half a dozen of them."

Well, another answer is we stock flies in boxes of a dozen. It takes time to sort and package flies by the each. And that time translates into higher costs to you. That's the reason we offer assortments of two dozen odds and ends of decent patterns at the one dozen price. You get several patterns in our "Fly Assortment Sale" that are remainders of popular flies from the four each purchases and we can move out all those odd numbered flies. What you call a "win/win".

Where can I find additional fly patterns and/or sizes?

We cover just about every possible condition with an assortment of flies.  And with a finite inventory, we try to stock the patterns that have proven to be those in the most demand in the appropriate sizes. We'd rather suggest an alternative fly than raise our prices to reflect more inventory.  Then too, despite our best efforts we often end up adding more patterns each year.

Why doesn't your catalog cover more patterns ?

See above.  Frankly, we have found the most successful anglers carry fewer patterns and more backup of the most appropriate patterns and sizes for their species and season. Check out our "Articles" page for selection information.

When do you add more flies and special offers?

Email us with those special patterns you are looking for. We receive flies year round and add new patterns when demand warrants. Let us know what we're missing and we'll give you an idea if it is a pattern we are considering.
